Lu Warner has been fly fishing and tying flies since the young age of 8. His childhood years were spent on the small streams of New England and Quebec chasing the elusive native brookie with gleeful passion. Since then he has worked as a fishing guide in Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Alaska and Southern Chile. Pursuing his passion for the fish and the beautiful country that they inhabit, he has spent two winters chasing trout all over New Zealand and numerous fall seasons in British Columbia and Idaho in pursuit of Steelhead on a fly.
In 1989 he started Western Spirit Cycling, a multi-day mountain bike touring company based in Moab, Utah. For 8 years Lu took people from all over the world on mountain bike adventures in Utah, Montana, Colorado, Arizona, and Idaho. This highly regarded company has been written up in Bicycling, Mountain Biking, Outside, Newsweek, the New York Times and several other well know publications.
In 1996 he sold the business to pursue his dreams of fly fishing, riding his bike, hiking and exploring the world. While traveling through Southern Chile with bike and fly rod in 1995 and 1996 he was struck by the incredible natural beauty, great fishing and the hospitality and warmth of the Chilean people. In 1997 he returned to Chile with a few fly fishing clients and in 2006 he realized a life long dream and purchased the Valle Bonito Lodge. From the lodge, one has easy access to the rivers, lakes, mountains and vibrant Chilean culture that add up to create a perfect playground for the discriminating adventurer.

At the Valle Bonito, all attempts are made to employ local guides, cooks, and staff. The friendly and professional relationships that Lu has developed in Chile over years of traveling there benefit all parties involved and your Chilean experience is sure to be enhanced by the wisdom and expertise of these excellent people.
Lus' years of guiding experience combined with his knowledge of the environment and Chilean culture will help make your trip to Southern Chile an adventure that you will not soon forget. His contagious enthusiasm, painstaking attention to detail, passion for living, sense of humor and
knowledge are sure to rub off on you and he hopes that you will join
him in what he considers to be one of the true wonders of the world.
