The Valle Bonito Lodge is located in the lovely Futaleufú Valley of Patagonia in Southern Chile, on the banks of the crystal clear Rio Espolón and just a few short miles from the Argentine border. In this tranquil and spectacular setting, it is easy to forget about the worries of the world and let the beauty of the Patagonian scenery, culture and people completely captivate you. Custom Trips in Patagonia At the Valle Bonito we will work closely with you while planning your vacation. We can customize your stay with us to maximize your vacation time. Whether it's fly fishing, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, kayaking, trekking, mountain biking, sight-seeing, relaxing, or all of the above, we will help to organize a dream trip for you. Patagonia is a big place and in addition to the Valle Bonito, we also have excellent fishing, lodging and adventure connections throughout the South of Argentina and Chile. From remote week long float fishing trips to 4 star luxury lodges in wilderness settings, our knowledge and expertise allow us to offer your group unique and exciting choices for your vacation to Patagonia. Group sizes are kept small with only 4-6 guests per week. Exceptions can be made for large private groups of family members and friends as we have comfortable accommodations for up to 12 people. At certain times we are able to work with groups as small as 2 people. Our season runs from November tenth through the end of April. The Valle Bonito Lodge The Valle Bonito has two cozy riverside cabins for our guests. Each includes a kitchen, living room, wood stove, two bedrooms and one bathroom with toilet, showers, and hot and cold running water. Both cabins sleep 2-4 guests. The main lodge has a kitchen, large dining/living room and rooms for 6 guests with shared baths. Electricity is provided by a generator during the day and rechargeable flourescent lights keep things lit up at night. Here you can play all day, and in the evening sit back and relax on the front porch, listen to the river and enjoy the peaceful setting of the Valle Bonito Lodge and the wonders of Futaleufú. The Espolon river is literally a few feet away and the soothing sounds of flowing water assure a restful nights' sleep after each day in this special part of the world. At the Valle Bonito Lodge we offer a personalized vacation experience for our guests. While many companies take in 10-20 guests per week, we restrict our group size to 6, making exceptions only for private parties. Our riverside cabins insure privacy and comfort, giving you the chance to truly relax and enjoy this special part of the world. Each cabin is complete with it's own kitchen should you desire a midnight snack or cup of coffee or tea. Meals are eaten in the main lodge and meal times are adjusted to accommodate the schedule of our guests. Our Chilean cook prepares typical Chlean cuisine, highlighted by fresh fruits, local meats and vegetables and tasty Patagonia dishes. There is never a shortage of food and you are encouraged to eat your fill. On the last night of our trips, we have our neighbor Polo prepare a typical Chilean Asado, roasting a whole lamb over an open hardwood fire. Combined with local potatoes, salads and vegies, and a tasty desert, this is always a meal to remember. The Valle Bonito offers the perfect vacation for the fisherman and non-fishing companion traveling together. There are a wide variety of activities for the non-fisherperson including: hiking, horseback riding, swimming, white water rafting, sea kayaking, photography, mountain biking and simply relaxing by the river. It is also great place for a family vacation, offering fun activities for the kids as well as the adults. We make all attempts to offer you a real Chilean experience, giving you a healthy taste of the remote and rewarding lifestyle lived by the local "campesinos" in this part of Chile. It is very important to us to support the local economy and our staff is comprised of very talented and service oriented people from the Futaleufu Valley. As remote as it is, the Valle Bonito is only 6 miles from the town of Futaleufu, (population 1800) offering you the chance to visit this interesting pueblo, mingle with the friendly locals and share some stories and a cup of Matte. Here, the residents are extremely resourceful and their ingenuity can be enlightening. Much like the early pioneers in the States, these people have learned to live with a minimum of material goods, yet are some of the happiest and most fun loving individuals that you could ever meet. Always quick to laugh and smile, the locals add a pleasing aspect to all of our trips that you are sure to enjoy and remember.
